and non-native teachers of English or other languages working with large

challenge of teaching large, mixed level classes. In such circumstances
both the teachers and individual students can feel "lost in the
crowd". This course will provide you with techniques

teach classes more effectively, creatively and with a higher level of
confidence. What are the key course contents? • Dealing with
homework and correction. • Creative activities
for large classes. • Pair work,
group work and movement in large classes. • Effective strategies
for gaining and maintaining whole group attention, including the use
of gesture and voice. • Strategies
and approaches for improving the quality of your instructions. • Exploiting
the course books in ways that make it more relevant to the group you
are teaching. • Activities
and approaches that encourage individuals to feel valued within the
group. • Different approaches
towards discipline. • Creative strategies
for dealing with mixed levels. • Recognising
and working with different learning styles. Is this the right course for me? • Yes - if you
teach large classes and want to become more effective within the classroom. • Yes - if you
want to gain direct experience and understanding of learning as part
of a large group. If this is not the right course for you, please consider one of the following: • Secondary
Teaching - methodology for learners between the ages 11 - 18 • Creative
Methodology for the Classroom - a general methodology course for
all ages • Teaching
Multiple Intelligences - examining new insights in offering a broader
description of intelligence and how this can make your teaching more
effective. Funding • Participants may apply for an EU grant to fund tuition, travel, accommodation and subsistence. Applications for grants must be submitted by 30 March 2007. • You need to reserve your place before applying for your grant. You do not pay anything if you are not awarded a grant. On registration we will send you more information about funding. What do I do next? • Register
online today. We will then confirm your place and send you a grant application pack with guidance on how to apply. • If you have any questions please contact us. |
